David Villa Smacks Honduras, Literally, Sir Alex Comforts Wayne & More

David Villa had a near hat trick yesterday, adding to his spectacular goal tally for his country. He also backhanded a honduras defender right in the chops. Spain is waiting for a referee report to find out if he is going to be suspended or not. He had this to say about it courtesy of the BBC

"It's not something that I am proud of. They're just instincts, in this case I wasn't expecting [Izaguirre] to tread on me," Villa told Spanish broadcaster Canal Plus.
"I was merely standing there and the reaction was to stick my arm out. I'll try in future to keep my cool."
He was just reminding Honduras that he's David Villa and next time they get up in his grill, he's going to hit them with the golden boot that's waiting for him.

An article by Daniel Taylor from the Guardian  reports Sir Alex Ferguson called up Wayne Rooney to give him a pep talk. The Man U manager could sense the tension in the England camp and was felt bad for his star striker. So he called him up, whispered softly on the other line, and told him to "relax and enjoy it". The way England are playing, that should have been a conference call. I hope the talk with Papa Bear Ferguson sends Wayne on a goal scoring spree against Slovenia. The tournament needs a good thrashing from England.
