Capello Names Final 23 and Other News

Fabio has put together his final squad this morning. Below is the list courtesy of BBC Sport.

Goalkeepers: Joe Hart (Manchester City), David James (Portsmouth), Robert Green (West Ham).
Defenders: Jamie Carragher (Liverpool), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Ledley King (Tottenham), John Terry (Chelsea), Matthew Upson (West Ham), Stephen Warnock (Aston Villa).
Midfielders: Gareth Barry (Manchester City), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham), James Milner (Aston Villa), Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City).
Forwards: Peter Crouch (Tottenham), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham), Emile Heskey (Aston Villa), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United).
The players with bad news include; Theo Walcott (Arsenal), Darren Bent (Sunderland), Adam Johnson (Manchester City), Scott Parker (West Ham), Michael Dawson (Tottenham), Leighton Baines (Everton), and Tom Huddlestone (Tottenham).

Fabio personally met with the omitted players to give them an explanation as to why they weren't going to be on the plane to South Africa. At least Leighton Baines can relax and cuddle up with his blanket for the next month with his worries about being homesick if he were picked.

Darren Bent had this to say from his personal Twitter account.

Am gutted. But thank you for all your support this season.

Walcott's injury plagued season with only 15 starts for Arsenal last season. He did have that hat trick against Croatia during qualifiers but that was back on September 10th, 2008. At least he's young and has a few World Cups ahead of him.

I'm sure team USA have been waiting for England's team to be released so they can focus on who they will be matching up against and become better prepared. Where will you be when they square off on Saturday, June 12th at 1:30 EST?
